• Where is social policy heading in selected very developed countries (1-7)
The purpose of the article is to characterize the likely directions of reforming social policy in very developed countries in the next few decades. These guidelines were distinguished on the basis of an analysis of already used or considered methods of solving selected social issues related to paid work. I believe that the methods and effectiveness of solving these problems will have a significant impact on the shape of the entire social policy in the analyzed countries. I start by presenting arguments for the legitimacy of social policy. In the following sections, I answer questions about currently used methods of securing jobs, increasing employability in a knowledge-based economy, and the profitability of taking low-paid jobs. Finally, an assessment was made of which of these methods have the greatest chances of implementation and outlined the three most likely scenarios for the further development of social policy.
  • Conditions for the functioning of social cooperatives in Poland (8-14)
The purpose of the article is to analyze and evaluate the functioning of social cooperatives in Poland, which are the place of life and professional activation of people with so-called low employability, i.e. long-term unemployed, disabled, addicts, etc. Results of own research conducted in Łódź and voivodeship Łódź, national, as well as participant observation due to social management of a social cooperative, prove the need to support economically weak entities by social actors, i.e. local / local government and business. This is the only way that will allow Poland to be in the European trend of a new social policy focused on workfare state, based, among others on social inclusion of marginalized groups.
  • Factors determining the choice of education profile for people with intellectual disabilities - first grade students of industry grade 1 (15-21)
The article presents the relationship between the professional interests of students with mild intellectual disability and their choice of education profile. The second goal of the article is to present internal and external factors that influence the choice of the education profile by the examined persons. The research, in which 63 participants took part, was carried out using the "Profile of professional interests for students with reduced intellectual abilities" by Małgorzata Połajdowicz, Ewa Radtke-Pawłowska, Urszula Sajewicz-Radtke, published by the Psychological and Pedagogical Test Laboratory in Gdańsk and the author's completely guided interview. The results indicate that the choice of education profile by the surveyed people with intellectual disabilities studying at a first-degree industry school is not in line with their professional interests. In deciding on the choice of education profile by the respondents, the family environment, consultations with teachers, the offer of education at school and health contraindications are important.
  • Vocational reintegration of people after imprisonment - who registers in poviat labor offices? (22-29)
The purpose of the article is the statistical characterization of the population of persons registered in poviat labor offices, who during registration presented the period (s) of imprisonment among the periods counted. Data concern 343 310 former prisoners who registered at poviat labor offices in the years 1990–2017. We also use data from prison years, comparing a group of convicts disclosing their punishment in labor offices to the entire population serving the sentence. We also analyze regulatory and non-regulatory factors that encourage former prisoners to register at labor offices and to indicate the period of imprisonment on official forms. The result of the analysis is a statistical picture of unemployment of former prisoners based on an extremely large sample.
  • Project "Work for job - through practice to work" as an attempt to create a model to support the transition of sociology students to the labor market (30-36)
