• Will thousands of people in Poland be unemployed soon? Forklift operators lose their authority
People working on forklifts of various types and operating them on the basis of a personal permit issued by the employer may soon lose their entitlements. They may or may not. Unofficial information suggests that work is underway to extend the validity of certificates. By the end of the year, forklift operators who obtained qualifications before 2004 will have to pass an exam at the Office of Technical Inspection. Otherwise, they will lose the opportunity to practice this profession.
  • Before you can ski off the slopes, you must first climb safely. Cableways under the microscope of technical supervision
Skiers are eagerly waiting for the start of the next season. When will you be able to leave the snow-covered slope? Unfortunately, it is only when the cable cars carrying white madness undergo periodic inspections and are put into operation. The time has come for the autumn reviews of cableways and ski lifts. For technical supervision inspectors who care about trouble-free and safe operation of these devices, this is a period of particularly hard work.
  • Experimental tests of worm gear reducer strength
The article describes the results of experimental tests of the output sleeves of worm reducers used in fuel boilers of central heating boilers. The inspiration to write the article was a series of failures of these gears. There was a fear of deterioration due to the reduction in the properties of the material used. In addition, instead of the cotter pins, which perform the function of safety clutches, screws with much greater strength than the cotter pins have been used.
  • Butt welding with pneumatic and servomechanical electrode clamping system (part I)
The article analyzes the results of using two electrode clamping systems (pneumatic and servo-mechanical) in the process of horn welding of sheets with an embossed hump. Calculations and experiments were carried out for 1.5 mm thick sheet and DX53 grade for various values of clamping force (pneumatic system) and electrode displacement (servo-mechanical system). A comparative analysis was carried out using the finite element method (FEM) and experimental verification. As part of the tests, destructive and non-destructive tests (hulling test, static tensile test and metallographic tests) were carried out. The analysis included the spatial distribution of the volumetric power density in the welding area (especially) of the hump material to determine the heating efficiency (effectiveness) for both electrode clamping systems. The presented method of controlling the force or / and displacement of electrodes during projection welding is completely different from the methods used previously and changes the current views in the field of projection welding. A completely new solution is the use of a servo electrode clamping system with a new way of controlling the force or / and displacement of the electrodes.
