    Opinion on the monograph of prof. zw. dr. hab. Tadeusz Wawak "The evolution of management quality determinants in universities in Poland in the years 1918-2018", Publishing House of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, 2019, pages 412. Developed by prof. zw. dr hab. Elżbieta Skrzypek. The work consists of an introduction and six chapters. This is the third monograph written by the Professor, devoted to the issue of quality management in higher education (the first entitled Quality of management in higher education in 2000-2012, the second entitled Improving the quality of management in higher education in 2012-2018), in which the Author shows the problems of management quality in universities in Poland in the years 1918-2018. The monograph presents formal, legal and economic conditions for the quality of management in higher education in Poland. The author in this and other works strongly emphasizes that the implementation of the mission and the further development of the functioning of the university in the field of science and education will largely depend on the quality of management at the university. It also proves that relations and involvement of university employees, students of 1st, 2nd and 3rd degree studies will play an important role. The amount of financial resources at the university's disposal and the efficiency of their use will also be extremely important. Professor T. Wawak emphasizes the need for care and taking actions aimed at increasing the quality of work of the academic community. In the introduction, the Author expertly presents the history of ten academic schools in accordance with the Act of July 13, 1920 on Academic Schools.
  • Determinants of individual consumer behavior and characteristics of the dietary supplements market in Poland
    The purpose of the article is to identify the features of the dietary supplements market in Poland on the basis of factors determining the behavior of individual consumers on this market. Methods: Analysis of thematic literature - licensed scientific databases, reports and analyzes published by commercial and state institutions. Research results: Factors affecting the intensive development of the dietary supplement market in Poland include, but are not limited to, economic, socio-cultural, demographic and psychological factors. In relation to these factors, determinants of individual consumer behavior have been identified, to which the characteristics of the dietary supplement market in Poland have been assigned. Conclusions: The widely used, intensively and multifaceted (especially marketing) activity of producers and sellers of dietary supplements in Poland resulted in the dynamic development of this industry on the market. The analysis of the features of the dietary supplements market in Poland provides information on the features of this market in relation to the determinants affecting the behavior of individual customers on this market.

    Standardization and its impact on international trade. The latest issue of the bimonthly "ISO Focus", published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), was devoted to trade, and in particular the role that international standards play in its regulation and development. The most important reasons for choosing such a topic are presented in the article entitled "Why international standards are so badly needed" (Why international standards are so necessary). The author of this study is Sergio Mujica - ISO Secretary General.
  • Assessment of the possibilities to increase the safety of air transport after the introduction of alerts on terrorist threats
    The threat of a terrorist attack on airport infrastructure and airplanes on the plane and in the air is now a significant problem for specialists dealing with aviation safety issues. Actions taken in this respect mainly boil down to developing procedures to be followed in the event of terrorist threats or the elimination of their effects. The author of this article, based on literature research, undertook an analysis of existing procedures regarding the procedure in case of state authorities introducing alert levels of terrorist threats. The assumed goal of the article is to indicate the importance of applying selected rules of conduct managing airports and to answer the important question: to what extent the introduction of alerts on terrorist threats has an impact on increasing the safety of air transport?
  • Enterprise restructuring and qualitative management paradigms - research results
    In the article, the author generally presents the overarching management principles based on the TQM philosophy and tries to answer the question to what extent these values are visible in modern times. Examples of the implementation of traditional quality management principles today are shown, through the support of modern IT systems. The main elements of the article focus on the issue of the impact of radical restructuring processes common on the organizational culture in the world today. The article presents the results of research in this area carried out in a selected pharmaceutical company. The assumption is that the article is intended to encourage in-depth discussions regarding the further development of management methods that are increasingly interfering with the structures of enterprises.
