    • Verification of electronic device technology for measurement and evaluation of thermal exposure of fire fighters and members of rescue teams (1)
The work of members of rescue teams could be associated with very high physical and thermal loads. If not timely interrupted, any extreme labour-thermal load may lead to a failure of the body and fatal collapse. This risk may be significantly reduced by devices that monitor the response of the body during the intervention and inform rescuers about the need to interrupt the exposure when the critical value of the reference indicator is achieved. The aim of the study was to test the correlation between the data of the newly developed device for signaling the strain of rescuers and the indicators of physiological response of the body.
    • Mental condition and specificity of mental disorders in a group of workers from southern Poland: A research report (13)
The aim of this work is to provide empirical evidence regarding types and increasing prevalence of mental disorders affecting Polish working population in the years 2014-2016. The research questions concerned the specific characteristics of the types of mental disorders and their prevalence as well as the differences between males and females.
    • Assessment of the influence of curvatures of the spine in the sagittal plane on musculoskeletal disorders in young people (29)
In Poland, 85% of the adult population reports complaints. The most common primary cause of inflammatory low back pain is the loss of lumbar lordosis, which initiates changes in the geometry of other parts of the spine and affects the position of the limbs. The aim of the study is to verify the relationship between the main curvatures of the spine in the sagittal plane, i.e. lumbar lordosis and thoracic kyphosis, and pain in various parts of the musculoskeletal system in a group of 20-year-old people at the onset of ontogenetic stabilization. It was assumed that excessive lumbar spine deflection and increased thoracolumbar dysbalance is a factor that promotes inflammatory back pain.
    • The importance of dental care in maintaining oral health in children and young people with type 1 diabetes (37)
The care of a dentist for children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes should be based on a reliable examination of the oral cavity, early treatment of tooth decay and maintenance of treatment results. This can be achieved thanks to regular, control visits consistent with the standards, as well as compliance with recommendations regarding prophylaxis of carious disease and periodontal diseases. The aim of the study was to examine whether the care of a dentist allows oral health of children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes.
    • Assessment of the work environment and a sense of danger and intensification of stress at high risk work - proposal of organizational intervention (45)
The main goal of the study was to check whether and in what dimensions the assessment of the work environment and the sense of danger are related to the stress experienced at work in conditions of health and life threat. The secondary goal was to analyze this problem from the perspective of a professional group employed in the same organization and to develop practical guidelines for a specific employer.
    • Effect of titanium dioxide with visible light on the survival of mold fungi (59)
Mold fungi present in the dust or developing on the nutrient medium of building materials are one of the main reasons for the deterioration of air quality in usable spaces and flats. Previously developed air purification systems do not guarantee complete removal of harmful factors for human and animal health, which is why alternative solutions are being sought. One of them is based on photocatalysis with the use of titanium dioxide, whose antifungal properties have not been fully understood. The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of titanium dioxide activated with visible light on the survival of mold fungi.

    • Aspects of hygiene and legal assessment of occupational exposure to cytostatics (77)
The publication analyzes the obligations of employers in the field of assessing occupational exposure to cytostatics at the workplace in the light of applicable legal regulations. Cytostatic drugs can be a threat to the health and life of employees who care for cancer patients and veterinary medical staff. The large scale of occupational exposure to cytostatics in Poland is confirmed by data collected in the Central Register of Data on Exposure to Chemicals, Their Mixtures, Factors or Technological Processes about Carcinogenic or Mutagenic Effects, conducted by the Institute of Occupational Medicine. Professor J. Nofera in Łódź.

    • Tumors of professional origin - epidemiology and jurisprudential aspects (93)
The etiology of cancer is multifactorial. Malignant neoplasms resulting from the action of factors occurring in the work environment, recognized as carcinogenic to humans, can be recognized as occupational disease. Analysis of epidemiological data indicates a significant underestimation of occupational cancer, the main cause of which is the long period of latency of these diseases. The publication contains guidelines for adjudicating on the professional etiology of malignant neoplasms prepared on the basis of existing legal acts, medical publications and experiences of own authors of the work. The publication presents the epidemiology of cancer diseases, including professional origin, risk factors for cancer and carcinogens in the workplace. The principles of adjudicating about professional cancers are also given.
